Koenigsegg Agera RS

Koenigsegg Agera RS

A Koenigsegg is the very definition of a bespoke hypercar. Nearly every component is designed, engineered and built in-house by the Koenigsegg team in Sweden to fulfil one purpose: delivering performance unlike anything else on the road.

In 2015, at the Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg revealed its latest performance innovations in the form of the Agera RS; a 1160bhp evolution of the Agera R and Agera S. With dynamic underbody aero, an active rear spoiler and various Koenigsegg weight-saving innovations – including its hollow full carbon fibre AIRCORE wheels – the RS is brutally fast.

In 2017, it set a two-way average top speed world record of 278mph and smashed the Bugatti Chiron’s 0-250mph-0 record, with a time of 36.44 seconds. The cars that set both of those records were fitted with the optional ‘1-Megawatt’ package – a $270,000 optional extra that increased power from the Koenigsegg-designed twin-turbo V8 from 1160bhp to 1341bhp.

Owners describe the Agera RS as an enormously raw and capable performance car. Where something like a Bugatti Chiron delivers a refined experience under normal driving, the RS never hides its enormous potential. The noise of the engine dominates the cabin, the steering always feels alive and any subtle press of the throttle pedal is an immediate reminder of the ferocious performance available.

Constructed with a number of Koenigsegg proprietary technologies, including a full carbon fibre tub, Triplex suspension – utilising an innovative third damper – and Z-shaped anti-roll bars (about a fifth of the weight of a normal unit) the Agera RS is usable on the road and devastatingly fast on-track. In fact, a 3G-connected pre-active suspension set-up can even download active suspension settings for some of the most famous circuits in the world, reacting to each corner in turn to deliver the best possible performance.
